A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: “How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.” She continued, “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”

It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them through the evening and into the night. Remember to put the glass down!

I think this just changed my life.

And this is why Psychology is my major.

My mom just called me over to the TV to show me this ADORABLE and super-well animated commercial for Oreos with a jingle sung by Owl City.

I’ve never seen a commercial so charming and fun! The song is def gonna be stuck in my head.

Also, does anybody know who animated it? It’s very good!!

Reality Check of the year

Today was spring cleaning (again) this time it is the closet/drawer/boxes under the bed edition. this is another one of my mushy gushy do better posts. dont bother to readd

I admit that I was a hoarder of my elementary/middleschool/highschool stuff like homework paper or like random updates about schools. I considered them all “memories” But now all I see is stuff I dont really need. Of course I kept a few so I can look back at it, I just dont want to keep ALL of my papers.

So upon cleaning, I came upon my middle school box. If I can over-exaggerate what happened it would be like as if I opened a box with beaming yellow light and cherubs singing an OHHHHHHHH sound.

All my progress reports with 92%-100% A+ A+ A+ A+ A+
I flipped through the booklet and my grades where just singing to me.

Next were my old ASB/Student council minutes when I was vicepresident and the winter/valentine dance permission slips; then i remember my council and I doing many different activities and the first time I had to call different stores to sponsor us for the harvest festival with the big salad bowl mixer. (It was literally REALLY BIG, you can fit like 3 people in that bowl sitting down or six if you stack people. It was enough salad to serve the whole school and the whole district official people and parents.

Then I came upon my old art portfolio. I had a stage where I was obsessed with anime. I think it was Aaron Logan who got me to read manga. I remember in 4th grade when I sat next to him and he was my buddy and we would talk about the most gruesome topics. I remember one of the stories was about a friend he knew who commited suicide by putting a gun in his mouth and firing it resulting in lots of blood and brain on the wall (the way he described it was really gruesome, if the story was true, I don’t know we lied a lot back then). Well the main point was he brought a lot of manga to read while the teacher told us to do “silent reading” and he had extras so he let me read some. Then I got addicted to it and I was borrowing all of the books from him. It was Rave Masters. I remember, it was pretty good :O I wonder if they have any new releases or if it ended. Anyways I really got to like anime and I started drawing it. And I got really good at it! Good enough to be showcased at the districts VAPA awards ceremony but not to win of course.

Next was my poem and lyric books. I had a few poem booklets where I wrote some pretty darn inspirational poems, haikus I think. I’ll type out a few here:

Hope:
Just because everything is in kaos and ruins,
Doesn’t mean that hope can’t come back to life.

Wish:
Some say wish upon a shooting star.
Others say pick a four leaf clover,
But I say follow your dreams to get what you wish for.

jk they’re pretty bad but it has a hippie ring to it. And my lyrics that I wrote were pretty ridiculous too. My first attempt of writing a song was like a long poem about me finding a penny (lame i know) But you know it was because of T-Swizzle’s break out song Teardrops on my guitar and her first album that made my songwriting skyrocket. I think the first legit song I wrote was my graduation song. I wrote a song about my 8th grade graduation with the thought of what it would feel like to graduate highschool, and college. I was meaning to play it at my 8th grade promotion but I never did. And I was going to sing it to some people last year for my seniors going away, but that didnt happen. Maybe I’ll sing and record it the way I did 4 years ago this week or two because graduation is actually came up. It is rather cheesy so dont laugh if I do decide to post it.

Anyways the songs I wrote after were pretty good ( in my opinion though) And then I noticed the pattern in the actual songs that i wrote, THEY WERE ALL DEPRESSING. But all in all, I wrote a LOT of songs during middle school. Then high school came i wrote like 3 songs freshman year, 1 song sophomore, I dont know if I wrote one junior year, but then i wrote one this year. :P The one I wrote this year is on my spotify the unfinished one. I realized thats where ima leave it unless i change so me lyrics.

OK THE MAIN POINT OF MY BLURBING is that I’ve changed so much, I’ve become a cookie cutter person. I use to be weird x10000 and did everything I was happy to do I was motivated to do good in school, I wrote poems and songs like crazy, I drew like no other, I did all the asb stuff I could do ( I mean i still do .. but yeah). I liked high school but I feel like i didnt shine like I wanted to in high school like I did in middle school. Looking back at all my old stuff and piano books too, I realized I had ALL this potential and its kind of gone down the drain. It made me sad. Especially My sister asking me “what happened to you? Where’s the Sarina from 4 years ago? She was perfect.” No one’s perfect but indeed I felt like that was the highest point of achievements in my life. Also that time there was a person who liked me whom i liked back but I was a pussy to say anything and I regret not saying anything so bad right now because alsiejflsejfseli thats a whole other story. Point is people hated middle school, but I loved it so much. I wish I kept my potential and didnt slack off, join tumblr and facebook and all that crap.well probably more like use less of these social networking site.

I really hope that this is the last reality check I will need in a long time. My new freshman goal as a college student this summer and beyond is to do everything I can to my fullest potential. I gave up on myself because I thought I lost my glow and I was dumb but looking back I was pretty smart and talented, I just never pruned it. I know what to do now.
